BON 02 | ESCAPE LOMBOK

The Escape Lombok experience begins with a warm welcome at Bonjeruk Village, where visitors are greeted with a traditional serbat herbal drink. This simple ritual marks the start of a half-day journey designed to introduce travelers to the everyday rhythm, culture, and natural beauty of the village.

Presak Sub-Village ...

From the starting point, the trip moves into the rice fields toward Presak Sub-Village. The route passes through expansive stretches of green paddies, offering views of farmers at work and water channels feeding the fields. Arriving in Presak, guests are guided into the heart of the community’s traditional craftsmanship. Here, artisans produce the distinctive Kembang Komak handwoven textile, created on wooden looms using patterns passed down through generations. Close by, the traditional roasted coffee-making process unfolds over open flames. Guests watch as beans are stirred slowly in a clay pan, releasing a deep, earthy aroma. Fresh seasonal fruits from the surrounding area are also introduced along this stop, providing a sensory glimpse into local agriculture.

Kampung Ombak .. to Kampung Batu Jering

The journey continues to Kampung Ombak, a small creative hub where families produce various home-based items. This area showcases the ingenuity of local villagers who turn simple natural materials into practical or decorative products. The stop reflects the interplay between tradition, small industry, and family life.

From there, the group proceeds to Kampung Batu Jering, where hands-on involvement becomes the highlight. In this workshop session, visitors take part in preparing one of Bonjeruk’s signature products—either serbat (a traditional health drink made from herbs and spices) or sate kuncung, a distinctive local satay known for its unique preparation style. The workshop provides an authentic insight into Bonjeruk’s culinary heritage, demonstrating how ingredients from village gardens are transformed into everyday foods or remedies.

Ayam Merangkat and Sate Kuncung ...

The experience concludes with a lunch featuring iconic dishes such as Ayam Merangkat and Sate Kuncung, served in a serene restaurant setting surrounded by rice fields. The natural backdrop and gentle village atmosphere create a fitting end to the Escape Lombok program, blending local cuisine, scenery, and cultural immersion into one seamless experience.

By the end of the half-day, travelers gain a meaningful understanding of Bonjeruk’s traditions—from textile making and fruit harvesting to culinary craftsmanship—while enjoying a peaceful escape into Lombok’s rural charm.
