The deep, resonant drums and rhythmic movements create an atmosphere of celebration, echoing the village’s strong identity and long-standing ceremonial rituals.

A warm cup of serbat,

The Authentic Bonjeruk program offers an immersive half-day journey into the cultural heart of Bonjeruk Village, presenting visitors with a vivid blend of tradition, hospitality, and community craftsmanship. The experience begins upon arrival at the village, where guests are welcomed with a lively Gendang Beleq performance. The deep, resonant drums and rhythmic movements create an atmosphere of celebration, echoing the village’s strong identity and long-standing ceremonial rituals. Alongside this musical greeting, visitors are served a warm cup of serbat, a traditional herbal drink symbolic of local warmth and hospitality.

Batujering Tourist Village

The tour continues with a gentle walk toward Batujering Tourist Village, a neighboring area that forms an integral part of Bonjeruk’s cultural landscape. As participants stroll through shaded paths and open spaces, the guide explains the range of tourism activities that take place within the community—spanning arts, cuisine, agriculture, and small-scale local industries. The walk also introduces the natural surroundings of Bonjeruk, which combine fertile agricultural fields, traditional homes, and community gathering points.

Peresean, the iconic stick-fighting tradition ...

A highlight of the experience is the traditional art performance, featuring both Gendang Beleq and Peresean, the iconic stick-fighting tradition of Lombok. Peresean, performed with rattan sticks and cowhide shields, reflects the island’s ancient warrior heritage. Under the coordination of local hosts, the performance is presented in a safe and structured manner, allowing visitors to witness the cultural strength and symbolic meaning of the art form without turning it into a spectacle. Together with the music, the performance emphasizes Bonjeruk’s deep-rooted cultural pride.

A hands-on local product ...

Following the arts presentation, guests participate in a hands-on local product workshop. Here, they learn the process behind Bonjeruk’s signature traditional items, such as Sate Kuncung—a distinctive village satay—or the preparation of Jamu Serbat, a herbal concoction made from ginger, spices, and palm sugar. The workshop displays the connection between culinary heritage and natural local ingredients, highlighting how families have preserved these recipes for generations.

Ayam Merangkat ...

The program concludes with a lunch featuring refined local cuisine, served in a peaceful restaurant setting surrounded by rice fields. Among the dishes offered is Ayam Merangkat, a flavorful chicken dish unique to the area, paired with the Sate Kuncung that guests may have helped prepare earlier. The serene environment—open fields, soft breezes, and the gentle sounds of village life—provides a fitting final note to the Authentic Bonjeruk experience.

Through performances, workshops, culinary activities, and guided exploration, BON 04 offers a rich understanding of the village’s heritage. It allows visitors to appreciate Bonjeruk not only as a destination but as a living cultural landscape shaped by tradition, community, and everyday rural life.
